People Have A Clarity Why They Want. But They Don’t have A Clarity How They Want.
How Desires Can Manipulate Our Core Goals?
That’s where Desires are Born. This gap between what we desire and how to achieve it is where our expectations and, sometimes, disappointments seeds are implemented in our mindset.
Let me help you with the example, We all have joined Gym or any fitness activities just to be fit for our own self.
We have clarity about what we want: a healthier self. But over time, many of us stop going. but when you ask the same person why they didn’t continue the if they were so passionate about their health than you will start seeing the reasons is why they where unable to continue for e.g. Spa is not up to the mark, gym was too crowded, AC wasn’t working, the trainers were unfriendly, there is no proper exercise area or even the gym’s amenities. Without these elements of clarity, our unfulfilled desires slowly took over, weakening our commitment to the core goal.
What does these excuses means actually that, you didn’t have the clarity beforehand regarding your own choices which you think were not important at the first place.
When you come and took the demo session in gym. It was all what you want is a place where you can work on your core goal which is your self fitness. but you end up not continuing your gym because you didn’t know how your desires takeover your primary core need which was self fitness. But when the reality didn’t meet these hidden preferences, we drifted away from our goal.
Steps to Improve Clarity of Thought
- Define Both Your ‘What’ and ‘How’: Start by being clear not only on what you want but also on how you want to achieve it. For instance, if you want a healthier lifestyle, think about what environment, routines, and support systems will best help you sustain it.
- Identify Non-Negotiables: Outline what aspects are essential for you to stay committed. Is it the gym’s ambiance, the quality of trainers, or convenience of location? Knowing these factors helps you make choices aligned with both your goals and your personal comfort.
- Evaluate Regularly: Reflect on your progress and re-evaluate whether your initial environment still aligns with your goals and expectations. Sometimes, adjustments are necessary to maintain clarity and stay focused.
- Stay Rooted in Core Goals: While desires may evolve, regularly remind yourself of the core reason you began this journey. It will help you see past minor inconveniences and keep you grounded in what truly matters.
Next time you start or plan anything new, whether it’s fitness or another personal goal, take the time to align your ‘how’ with your ‘what.’
Key Takeaway
Before jumping into your next big goal, take a moment to list both your objectives and the conditions that will help you stay on track. Clear thought leads to clear actions, and clarity is the foundation for lasting commitment.
